Wildberries, Russia's leading online marketplace, has suffered a major disruption following a fire at one of its largest logistics complexes located in the village of Alexandrovka, Voronezh region. The facility, spanning 152,900 square meters, plays a critical role in the company's supply chain and inventory management.

Impact on Wildberries’ Operations and Market Presence

The logistics center, fully operational since November 2025, stored over 90 million product items and represented a substantial investment of approximately 11 billion rubles. According to regional investment agency data, the scale of the warehouse made it a central hub in Wildberries’ distribution network.

Since mid-July, Wildberries’ logistics infrastructure has been targeted by a series of drone attacks, reportedly by Ukrainian forces, resulting in damage to over 20 logistics centers across multiple Russian cities including Saint Petersburg, Tula, Elektrostal, Krasnodar, and Nevinnomyssk. Satellite analysis from Reuters suggests Wildberries may have lost around 20% of its warehousing capacity.

These combined attacks have led not only to direct physical damage but also to a significant drop in sales volumes. Industry sources estimate that Wildberries’ revenue has declined by roughly 25%, attributable to the disruption of sellers who have lost inventory and their businesses.

“Direct losses for Wildberries could range between 100 to 200 billion rubles, reflecting both damage to assets and shrinking turnover,” industry insiders note.

The fire at the Alexandrovka warehouse intensified the situation, prompting the evacuation of staff in line with safety protocols. Additionally, the governor of Voronezh region declared an alert due to ongoing drone threats, highlighting the heightened security risks impacting logistics operations in the region.

Investors and market watchers are closely monitoring the fallout. The destruction and diminished operational capacity raise concerns about Wildberries’ ability to maintain supply chain efficiency and customer service standards during a critical period of market competition in e-commerce.

Investor Considerations and Market Outlook

Wildberries’ extensive losses from the string of attacks and fires could lead to longer-term financial strain, impacting stock valuations and bond performance tied to the company. The disruption underscores vulnerabilities in supply chain infrastructure that investors need to factor into risk assessments.

While Wildberries continues to implement safety and contingency measures, the recent events serve as a reminder of geopolitical risks influencing capital markets, especially in sectors reliant on physical logistics and distribution networks.

Market participants should watch for updates on Wildberries’ recovery strategy, insurance claims, and potential government intervention to stabilize the logistics sector. The broader e-commerce market may also experience ripple effects if similar attacks persist or escalate.
